Bangkok, officially called Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, is the capital and largest city of Thailand. The city is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, near the Gulf of Thailand.

Bangkok Province borders six other provinces: Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Chachoengsao, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom.
